Bois: A Handwritten Font That Brings Personality to Campaign Design

Designing a Pinterest Campaign with Bois

While prepping a seasonal content series for a lifestyle brand’s Pinterest campaign, I landed on Bois as a last-minute font choice to give the visuals a warm, approachable edge. The campaign focused on Easter crafts and DIY decor, and I needed a typeface that felt personal and creative without looking too casual. Bois fit the bill perfectly. Its soft, rounded strokes and gentle bounce give it a hand-drawn charm that’s both eye-catching and easy to read at a glance—ideal for Pinterest’s visual-heavy platform.

What Makes Bois Stand Out

Bois is a Script Amp font with a distinctly friendly tone. Unlike rigid or overly formal script fonts, Bois feels like it was written with a felt-tip pen—natural, expressive, and slightly whimsical. It’s not just a font; it’s a design element that can set the tone for your message. Whether you're promoting a wedding invitation suite or a cozy Fall-themed digital course, Bois adds a layer of warmth and personality that connects with audiences on an emotional level.

The font works especially well in digital campaigns where authenticity and approachability matter. Its character spacing and subtle flourishes help it stand out in thumbnails, social media posts, and email headers—without sacrificing readability. That’s a rare balance in the world of decorative fonts.

Real-World Use Across Digital Campaigns

I’ve used Bois in several campaign formats: YouTube thumbnails, Instagram Stories, and even a branded template pack for a client’s email promotions. In each case, it served as the primary headline or callout text. On YouTube, where thumbnails need to grab attention in under a second, Bois helped make the text pop without looking cluttered. The font’s rounded edges and open spacing kept it legible even when overlaid on busy background images.

For Instagram, I used Bois in a carousel post promoting a limited-time workshop. The font was used for the main title and key benefits, paired with a clean sans serif for supporting text. The contrast between the two typefaces created a clear visual hierarchy, making the message easy to digest while scrolling quickly through the feed.

Readability Tips for Best Performance

Like any decorative font, Bois works best when used intentionally. It shines in short headlines, quote graphics, and branded labels—places where you need visual impact without long blocks of text. For mobile screens and small previews, I recommend using it at a slightly larger size to ensure clarity, especially when placed over images or on semi-transparent overlays.

Bois performs well on both light and dark backgrounds, though I found it reads most clearly on soft pastels and neutral tones. Avoid using it in fast-scrolling feeds for long paragraphs or small captions—those are better handled by simpler, more neutral fonts.

When Bois Might Not Be the Right Fit

Despite its charm, Bois isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. It’s not ideal for long-form editorial design, technical content, or corporate communications where clarity and formality are essential. If your campaign includes a lot of dense text or needs to convey authority and professionalism, consider using Bois only for headlines or decorative accents, and pair it with a more structured sans serif or serif font.

Pairing Bois with Other Fonts

One of the biggest strengths of Bois is how well it pairs with other typefaces. I’ve used it with Montserrat and Lato for a modern, clean contrast in social media graphics. For a more vintage or editorial feel, I paired it with a serif like Playfair Display. The key is to let Bois take the visual lead while relying on a simpler font to carry the message.

If you're designing a brand kit or a template pack, Bois can serve as a signature font for logos, product names, or quote highlights. Just be sure to test different combinations to see how they perform across devices and platforms before locking in your design.

What to Check Before Using Bois in Campaigns

Before integrating Bois into any campaign, especially if it's for commercial use, make sure to verify the font’s licensing terms. Many decorative fonts come with personal-use licenses only, which can limit their use in ads, client work, or digital products. Bois, being a premium font, should include commercial rights, but it’s always worth double-checking.

Also, look into the font’s included styles—alternates, ligatures, and multiple weights can expand its flexibility. File formats matter too, especially if you’re working across design platforms. Make sure you have access to OTF, TTF, and WOFF formats for web and print use. Multilingual support is another consideration if your campaign targets non-English audiences or includes special characters.
